How can I bypass a windows hard drive password?

My sister got a divorce from her husband and she gave me a hard drive with windows XP that she had with him. Thing is that her ex husband had changed the administrators password before the divorce. My sister wanted me to try to extract all the pictures on the drive before I reformatted it. I have tried to go through DOS Prompt and keep getting an access denied to any sub directories in the drive giving me access to only the root directory. Is there any way to bypass the password for the drive so I can move the personal files off of it before I format it. If not she says no big deal but she would love to have the many years of memories back.|||It is possible to recover or reset the Administrator password.Another option is to boot from a Linux distribution like Ubuntu or Knoppix and back up your files to another storage device.
